Last week while we were in the city for my CF checkup, we noticed that each time we go we see more and more homeless people. We always want to help, but we are never sure what to do.
There were 3 men standing on a corner, 2 of them were doing tricks and 1 of them was holding a poster that read, ” Anything Helps”. A lady rolled down her window and handed them something. When we saw her do that we thought that was so generous of her, but when we realized that what she had given them were cigarettes we felt more sad about the situation.
On the way home we looked up different ideas on what to do for the needy. We found something called “Blessing Bags”. A Blessing Bag is basically just a bag or a sack that has a little pick-me-up and then you put it in the back of your car and when you see someone who could use one then you have something to give them. We thought it was a great idea!
That Sunday I whet to 4-H and shared this story to my club and also let my club members know that I would be hosting a workshop to assemble blessing bags for anyone who wanted to join me. My club also thought it was a great idea and donated me $30 to buy some supplies.
We headed to the dollar store and got individually wrapped food and a variety of different personal care supplies. Since my mom has a print studio I made a design and had her help me print it out on to paper sacks.
So, tomorrow I’m going to be assembling them with some of my 4-H club members. I am very thankful that others wanted to join me for this project and I know that it is for a great cause!

within a week a group of students from my 4h club came together to help assemble & distribute a set of these bags. Each participant brought an assortment of items they thought might be useful, we had lots to pack! Once they bags were all put together everyone took a few home to stash in their vehicles. Hopefully the next time we travel to clinic we will be able to find people who will appreciate a little gift.
