Things seems to be moving along at a turtle’s pace…Well not really but that’s how if feels when you’re waiting right? Actually our contractor has been making great progress, we just are playing the game of hurry up & wait. This week we have cabinets & it is actually starting to feel like a real room. I spend far too much time walking through it, day-dreaming about where I’m going to store the toaster & miscellaneous kitchen gadgets I never seemed to have a proper home for…I actually think I will have nearly four times the storage & likely six times the counter space I had prior to the addition.
Can you see the rustic wood ceiling in this photo? The room only has two lights wired in so it’s a bit dark, but the ceiling turned out so beautiful! My original plan was for shiplap, but when we weighed all of the options this amazingly weathered looking wood from a brand called “wall concepts” seemed to be just the thing to put our room design over the top ( & over the budget). So the last pieces may have to fall into place a little slower than we’d originally planned, but I’m feeling like the endurance will well be worth it.
I can see the kids now gathered around the island and rolling out sugar cookies before Christmas and I envision washing dishes in the farmhouse sink looking out at the falling snow. There may be no landscaping, so the snow will be a necessity for that to be a pretty picture 🙂
