Who doesn’t love to get a surprise in the mail? When the box is typically packed with junk mail and bills, what a treat it is to open the door and discover a surprise! Last week Christa had a special surprise I wanted to share with you all…
We were expecting a sample of fudge from Julie’s Gourmet Fudge & Nummies / but wow did Julie go above and beyond! Christa, and the rest of the family too were ecstatic to unbox an assortment of creatively flavored bars of fudge as well as two loaves of pumpkin spice bread. Check out the photo above, This bread was heavenly. It had a rich outer layer almost, that sealed in a moist and flavorful sweet bread. It sliced beautifully and I served it warm with a pat of butter the next morning for breakfast. I was thinking a little bit of cream cheese would have topped this perfectly also.
Everything was wrapped so beautifully in vacuum sealed packages to keep it fresh as well as decorative cellophane bags and colorful tissue. It really felt like it was a birthday.
I like to make fudge occasionally & I have a very simplistic recipe, two ingredients- chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. I had no idea fudge was available in so many flavors!
The first one Christa wanted to try was an interesting looking cotton candy fudge block; sweet and delicious layers of soft pink and blue… amazing! We just sampled it and she took the rest to school to share with her friends at lunch the next day. I’m guessing her table was the place to be that day.
The other flavors included were buttered popcorn, bubblegum, white chocolate raspberry & Brown sugar pear. That last combination might sound a little strange but it was hands-down my favorite. A delicate shade of green and a super creamy texture / this flavor was so unique and so delicious. It would make a perfect Christmas gift (as would any of the flavors) if you still have time. Christa’s exact words were “she must be a magician because these flavors are spot on!”
In the photo below is the white chocolate raspberry. Might’ve actually been a tossup for my favorite the more I think about it. White chocolate never lets me down, and the raspberry swirl on top was made with real fruit preserves. I love it when you can taste the natural fruit. Plus this one was just beautiful to look at!
If you’re looking for something to send and make someone’s day, I highly recommend a little assortment of Julie’s fudge. I never asked about the calorie count, but I think it’s safe to say this would qualify as a high calorie item to help christa pack on the pounds over Christmas break. The rest of us will have to enjoy in moderation 🙂 I will link you here to her Etsy shop, where there are so many flavors of fudge available I’m sure it will be hard to make a choice!
